For a town of fewer than 40,000 people, Plainfield has a lot of resources for pet owners. If you’re planning to relocate to Plainfield, take a look at the following information about pet-related establishments and services, as well as tips on finding pet-friendly Plainfield apartments for rent.
Hendricks County requires dogs to be on a leash when outdoors, and Plainfield Ordinance No. 10-2013 says dogs must be on a “short leash” in any public park (with the exception of the off-leash Bark Park).
The Bark Park is at 1007 Longfellow Drive and requires an annual membership fee. For Plainfield residents who are members of the Richard A. Carlucci Recreation and Aquatic Center, the annual fee is $20; for non-members, the fee is $30 (or $40, for non-members who live outside of Plainfield).
To join, residents must visit the recreation center to provide their completed registration form, signed waiver, rules acknowledgment form, and current vaccination records.
Need to update your pet’s vaccinations? Plainfield has two large veterinary hospitals and several independent veterinary practices. Many veterinarians offer house calls.
Plainfield has two major pet supply stores – one near the intersection of Indiana State Road 267/Quaker Boulevard and Stafford Road, and one east of The Shops at Perry Crossing, at Perry Road and U.S. 40/Main Street. On the western side of town is a dog bakery.
Dog-walking services, mobile groomers, and pet-boarding facilities help busy pet owners care for their pets. Some new apartment complexes in Plainfield Indiana have convenient dog-washing spas.
The Plainfield Parks & Recreation Department maintains a trail system that spans the town and is perfect for dog-walking. Along Center Street, a trail connects five parks and passes under U.S. 40.
